This site needs an infusion of life

I have been so involved in my ALS situation that this site has been all but abandoned. It's hard to care or comment on other life's stories when an obsession for survival is thrown into the mix. Let me be clear, though, that I am not a one trick pony. I still consume much of what the outside world has to offer. I follow the yo yo market, I read about the latest Texas governor to move toward nomination if not the center. I follow the GOP as it kowtows to the Tea Party fringe. I am aware of our current administration's failure to capture little from the American people other than disappointment and dismay. It does not escape me that neither Democrat nor Republican has anywhere near a handle on what it takes to turn this country around. Obama, a smart guy, thought he knew what would work, and he found out it takes more manipulation, cajoling, compromise and resignation than brains and a plan to get anywhere in DC.
Have you ever wondered why only a certain type runs for office? My bet it is because the smart guys know it's the worst job in the world.

Dimwits of all flavors

Unless you live in a cave within the creation museum in Kentucky (strangely apropos location), you have to be bearing witness to the mountainous piles of partisan politics prevalent throughout the land. I mean, can you not find yourself choking down vomit at the prevailing party line rhetoric spewing forth from EVERYBODY? I hate the thought that any of these educated politicians actually blow hardy this tripe because it's what they believe. Come on. Over and above that, I'm insulted that they find the population is so gullible as to believe what they say. Feed me a line and I'll drag you down with it.
I know an election is brewing. I know we are on hard times. I also know that a partisan answer isn't in the works because neither party has one. Moreover, a bi-partisan solution is as likely as a solar eclipse tomorrow.
Don't think for a minute we can oust them all and replace them with common sense individuals like yourself, for if you favor extermination of all politicians and replacement of them, you're not making sense and I don't want you in office either.
Believe me, I'm as frustrated as you, but since I don't have an answer to the country's problems brewing in my head, I watch and listen for a modicum of reason to slip out and then that's the guy I will follow, party aside.

Who's reading this old stuff?

If I'm getting page views on this site the least I could do is to write something- for sure not anything related to ALS. I figure I need to show my considerably infected mind has all variations of spew with a limitless supply of hyperbole. If anybody comments on this post, I promise to bring you to the river and let it flow!

Can't sleep, might as well ramble......

You don't need wings to fly. Simply launch off a tall building and enjoy the experience while it lasts; after all, all experience is fleeting at best. Lots of people talk of eternity as if they have a notion what it is. With many, the here and now is simply a short stop before we are welcomed into the ever after. They are seemingly in waiting. Joyous at the thought of an eternity (again,no conception) where all is good and perfect. Looking forward to that inevitability seems to me close to suicide through wanting. I, for one will accept the fate when it takes me kicking and screaming. I want to look forward to the continuation of LIFE. At least through my perception it is tangible, it is real and it is precious. I'll take the here and now over the theoretical any time. Due to my condition, I look at the world slightly differently now. I see things and experience things in a more raw light. I have yet to figure out how to best deal with the time I feel is wasted in conversation leaning from banal to ludicrous. How do I not feel selfish when I blow off a do gooder who possesses more issues than myself, when I know I can decimate his beliefs and thus destroy his convictions. It would be preferable to me if I could simply say "don't waste my time" or "I don't follow that logic" or "thanks, but I need to leave now- send me an e-mail of your thoughts". Likely, I'd simply garner his pity at MY ignorance. You see, I'm pretty sure the earth is not flat, but we still have some "flat earthers" out there, and they refuse to budge. To me, the world at large would be poorly served with a 2000 year old science book.

The cost of doing business...........

Ok, come on, let me put it out there, let me reiterate, let the word fly, open the gates and release all the chickens, pull up and let me put up, let it be known.................. Last winter I bought this crazy computer to run this crazy CAD system so I could dabble in 21st century architectural drawing only to find clients wanting, skilled CAD draftspersons wanting, I picked up this nasty little case of ALS, and I migrated away from my program, away from my training and away from life as I'd known it. Well, I'MMMM BAAAAACK! Find your needs and spill them on me. I require practice and I am offering the first 3 projects for FREE! So, get calling or e-mailing or snail mailing or facebooking and let me get the rust out of my brain so I can roll. Call me at 309-635-1551 or e-mail me at boettcherdesignservices@gmail.com so I can go, go, go.

I've been a bit pre-occupied....

A long, looooooong time since my last post. You shant wait much longer. My als-whaticantellyou.blogspot.com site has taken a front seat as of late, but this site here is a hefty backseat driver and my dialog refuses to be limited to ALS. So look here for rants and misgivings about the world around us and don't be afraid to counter with comments. I've always enjoyed battle.

RACHEL GET HOME!

That's all I gotta say 'bout that.

I'ts been busy

......................Not so much on the CAD front, but elsewhere. Work is crazy. Crazy good, you ask? In my trade, work is always good. Crazy involves putting out fires, tying up loose ends and keeping people happy. Crazy.
CAD. I have had a project for a high end bathroom redesign. Print done, probably have the job as well. About 40K. Did a kitchen plan for a job I already had (drew it just for reference). About 70K. In talk to draw an 1800 square foot ranch plan- may be involved in the build. About 180K. Another ranch plan later in the spring- draw and build. I'm negotiating to review a builder's plans drawn elsewhere- by someone I know, who works on the same program as I - and I hope to convince him I might as well be drawing for him myself, maybe a dozen plans a year if it works out.
Can't yet figure out how to insert PDF or other files not images into this blog, or I'd give you a gander- I must ask Sarah.
I'm just getting started on a project in speculation to draw up 3 sample plans- complete- to roll up and peddle, on their face or as examples. 1) 2,000' 3 bdrm. ranch, 2,600' Cape Cod, 3,000' Georgian. We'll see how that goes-
On another note- Nick is finally bringing his band, "DriveTrain" to Peoria- or near- Pekin @ Goodfellas- 1414 8th street. Friday, March 4. Doors open around 7pm. $5.00 cover. We need to fill the place. Invite 400 of your good friends- we gots the room!
